Stagg/Minooka Competition Weekend

2 March 2010 No Comment

Though this past weekend may have been a bit stressful with Darlene’s van rendering inoperable, Lizz’s gimpy thumb, Faiths and Ashley’s rolled ankles and Kari’s endless hobbling around on crutches – it was a great weekend. Two strong performances from the members will hopefully be a nice spring-board for the Indy Regional coming up in two weeks.

Saturday started off strong – until about Gurnee, IL where we ended up renting an SUV to continue our trek down to Palos Hills, IL. We had a couple hours rehearsal in the Rug-Room. Sketchy at times, but the members were in high spirits. Members got ready, helped Evolution on the floor (minus Kari as her foot was eaten by their tarp cart) and headed into warm-up. Performed in a sauna of a gym – had a couple Asthma attacks as a result. Got our score of 74.1 (go Velocity!). Packed our purses and headed down the road to our housing site (thanks, Ken and Mike!)

Had a brief stay at the Wheaten Emergency Room with Kari and Lizz. Laughed a lot because we were over-tired. Go figure.

Woke up, treated to the most amazing breakfast spread I’ve ever seen thanks to our gracious hosts for the weekend and we were at it again. On our way to Minooka for our second competition of the weekend. Unloaded, got situated, went into warm-up, performed (a VERY emotional run) and received a score of 75.1.

Now we look forward to our few remaining rehearsals, Indianapolis Regional, Circuit Championships and World Championships!
