The History of Velocity Winter Guard
Our history has been full of enthusiasm and determination. The members of what would become Velocity Winter Guard had its first organizational meeting on Saturday, December 20th, 2003. At that time, the organizing members of the guard discussed the season and how to go about building a successful guard organization from scratch. The members asked Ryan Klassa to become their Director for this enormous undertaking.
The 2004 season was a huge success, as Velocity was top-ranked in nearly every competition of the season. We are proud to be the 2004 Independent A Class Midwest Color Guard Circuit Champions. The guard finished their competitive season at the Winter Guard International World Championships, held in San Diego, California, and was ranked within the top 20 of the Independent A Class.
2005 marked another successive year. We grew immensely as a guard and restructured our organization with a focus on long-term goals. Although we moved from Tinley Park, IL to Green Bay, WI for the 2005 season, we continued to attract membership from the surrounding states that decided to make the trek to Velocity because of the type of program we proudly offer.
Velocity’s history will continue to be written through the hard work, dedication, and spirit of heart which we were founded on.
